Network latency and high frequency trading

I came across this post, on infoworld. I found it very interesting, however I found the underlying paper even more interesting. Reading about latency in networks and comparing the speed of data packet transmissions over differing lines, i.e. a 1KM 1G optical line compared to a 1LM 10G optical line very interesting (and that is just one example), definitely worth a read and you don’t have to have any interest in the financial world – technology at it’s best? Of course, there is always the side “effect” of what is being created: flash crash.
